In February and March 2026, the French Transport Regulatory Authority issued a number of unfavourable opinions on the consultation procedures carried out by a motorway concessionaire for the award of contracts for the operation of ancillary commercial facilities on the public domain of the motorway concession, on the grounds that the penalty system provided for in the contract regarding fuel price moderation was inadequate. This requirement for effective supervision of the moderation of fuel prices is of particular importance today in the current context of rising prices at the pump and could possibly be applied in the future with regard to other services provided at motorway service stations.
