Raed Fathallah

Raed Fathallah, counsel, specializes in international commercial arbitration and litigation. He regularly serves as counsel in large-scale and complex international arbitration proceedings (ICC, ad-hoc, ICSID, GAFTA and LCIA) in a broad range of industries, with a particular emphasis on disputes relating to Arab and Middle Eastern countries. He has extensive experience in advising on matters both against, and on behalf of, sovereign States and State-owned entities in international arbitration proceedings (including ICSID arbitration) and claims brought under investment treaties.


 

He also acts as an arbitrator in ad hoc and institutional arbitrations and is a member of the ICC Commission on Arbitration and nominated on the panels of several arbitrations institutions.


Prior to joining Bredin Prat, Mr. Fathallah practiced with major law firms in New York, Montréal and Lebanon, concentrating mainly on international commercial litigation and arbitration. He is a graduate of the University of Ottawa (L.L.L, 1994) and the New York University School of Law (M.C.J., 1996). He obtained his Doctorate in Law (D.Phil) from the University of Oxford where he focused his research on investment treaty and ICSID arbitration and taught courses on public international law and international dispute settlement. He is qualified as a Solicitor of England & Wales (since 2005) and as an avocat in France (2007) and Québec, Canada (1997). He is fluent in Arabic (native speaker), French and English.
